Are you lost in your own world?

Sometimes we learned about ourselves from the eyes of the others...

Well, I don't know if someone has already coined these words, but they sure ring a lot of truths in my mind. Some people are being self-centered so much that they don't give a chance for themselves to hear about what other people think about them, or how do other people perceive them. Some people are so defensive when they face criticism, that they are in denial of all the bad points given to them. Some people just take it all in, and let the critic change them for the worse. I guess how you respond to a critic depends on how you regard yourself as a person, also how much do you accept or not accepting yourself.

Have you fully accepted the way you look? Have you fully accepted the way you handle yourself in front of people? Have you fully accepted the way you think, eat, talk, act, etc. Have you accept the true facts of who you are and feeling peace with it?

For example: You are a crier when it comes to watching sad and tragic movies. You'd cry easily and feel very sad in front of the tv. Do you accept that character being part of yourself? Would you hold back your tears so that others watching with you won't see, or would you just let it out and reach for the tissue, not minding if the others also cry or watching you with a smirk on their faces? Would you see that as your weakness? Or just you being you..and didn't give a damn about it?

Coming back to my entry line, sometimes you get to see who you are from other people's opinion. You can take those opinions in either way, good or bad. It goes this way, people tell you that you are A, B or C. Once you know about it, you will be thinking of it, "Am I A, B or C?", "Why does he/she thinks that I am A, B or C?". Coming again to how you regard yourself, you will either think, "No, I am not A, B or C. He/she had misunderstood me.", or "I haven't realize this, but I might have been A, B or C. I should take a note on this".

All right, so how many of us are egotistical, or have a mind open enough to receive this opinion cum critics about yourselves? Truth does hurt sometimes. But if you stand firmly on what you believe about yourself, and you think that people are just not understanding you well, you might just let it pass, and keep an open mind about it. It is not worth bawling over the matter, and that you know who you are. You don't have to explain anything. Sometimes people can be mean with their words, sometimes it's just that they are unable to convey their intentions well, when it might have been a good one (But I don't deny the fact that some people are purely disrespectful...). But then again, this is life. Let's get on with it. There's always something to learn from our dealings with life. Buena suerte.
